DRAFT โ PENDING ATTORNEY REVIEW
Social Media Connections & Permissions
Version 0.2 (draft) ยท Last updated October 26, 2026
Simply Social Agent can post to your Instagram account and your Facebook Page for you. Connecting is optional: without it, the app reminds you when a post is due and you post it yourself.
How connecting works
- You tap Connect Instagram or Connect Facebook on your Home page.
- You log in on Instagram's or Facebook's own page. We never see or store your Instagram or Facebook password.
- Instagram or Facebook shows you what the app is asking for, and you choose whether to allow it.
- If you allow it, Meta gives the app an access key (a "token") that lets it act only within those permissions. You can take it back any time (see below).
Instagram connections need an Instagram professional (business or creator) account. The app asks for:
- instagram_business_basic: your account ID and username, so the app knows which account is connected and can show it to you.
- instagram_business_content_publish: to publish the posts you schedule, at the time you pick, and (if you turn on "Also add to my story") to add the post's cover photo to your story.
- instagram_business_manage_insights: to read your recent posts' likes, comments, shares, saves and reach for the My Wins page, and to reuse the caption of a post you choose to post again.
What we save
- Your Instagram account ID and username.
- The access key and the date it expires. Instagram keys last about 60 days; the app renews yours automatically when it gets close to expiring, while you're using the app.
- When you connected.
- For each post the app publishes, Instagram's ID for that post, or the error if it didn't post.
The stats on My Wins are fetched from Instagram when you open the page. They aren't saved in our database.
The app posts to a Facebook Page you manage, not to your personal profile. It asks for:
- pages_show_list: to list the Pages you manage, so you can pick one.
- pages_read_engagement: to read basic information about your Pages (like the name and picture), which Facebook requires alongside posting.
- pages_manage_posts: to publish the posts you schedule to the Page you picked, and (if you turn on "Also add to my story") to add the post's cover photo to the Page's story.
What we save
- The ID and name of the Page you picked.
- An access key for that Page. Page keys made this way don't have an expiration date.
- When you connected.
- For each post the app publishes, Facebook's ID for that post, or the error if it didn't post.
- If you manage more than one Page, the app briefly saves your Facebook login key while you pick a Page, then replaces it with the key for the Page you picked.
What gets sent to Instagram and Facebook
When a post goes out, the app sends its photos or videos and its caption. If you turned on "Also add to my story" (Pro), it also sends the post's cover photo as a story, which Instagram and Facebook show for 24 hours. The photos are shared through a private link that stops working after one hour. Only posts you created and scheduled are sent; the app doesn't post anything on its own. Posts don't go out while your account has no active plan.
How we protect the access keys
Access keys are kept in our database where only our server can read them. They're never sent to your browser or shown in the app.
How to disconnect
Step 1: Disconnect in Simply Social Agent
On your Home page, find the Instagram or Facebook card and tap Disconnect. This deletes the saved account details and access key from our database right away. Scheduled posts won't go to that app by themselves anymore.
Step 2: Remove the app in Instagram or Facebook
Disconnecting in Simply Social Agent does not remove the permission you gave on Meta's side. To remove that too:
- Instagram: open your profile, then Settings and activity โ Website permissions โ Apps and websites, and remove Simply Social Agent.
- Facebook: go to Settings & privacy โ Settings โ Business integrations, and remove Simply Social Agent.
Posts already published stay on Instagram and Facebook until you delete them there. Deleting your Simply Social Agent account also deletes your saved connections (see Data Deletion Instructions).
Meta's rules
Your use of Instagram and Facebook is also covered by Meta's own terms and policies. Simply Social Agent isn't made by or endorsed by Meta.
